Web standards compliance
Does your website meet with current web standard guidelines?
No one likes an inaccessible or an unusable website as much as search engines, such as Google. They like to see that in terms of search engine optimisation that sites are constructed in such a way that content is easy for search engines to read and interpret; as well as being able to navigate through the website easily.
What is W3C compliance?
The W3C is the World Wide Web Consortium and since 1994 has provided the guidelines by which websites and web pages should be structured and created. It is a standard checklist of standards and procedures that will ensure that your site is fully accessible to all users.
You will need to check to see if your website infrastructure is search engine friendly and above all accessible? For example, is your content management system solution preventing search engines from accessing your site?
You will need to ensure that you adhere to amongst other standards:
- Relevant page titles - that appear in the web browser
- Metadata tags – an underlying description of the page content using keywords and phrases
- Image ALT tags – all images have description tags
We can help you to validate your website against W3C standards and provide a report on the areas your website that could be improved. We can also advise you about setting up Google Sitemap and optimising your 'robots.txt' file specially designed for search engines.
